The Prognostics Framework's
run-time reasoner reads raw or pre-processed
operational data, BIT data and sensor data,
performs processing on that data, and analyzes
the data based on the system model to assess
the health of the system. The reasoning
results in the following functional
capabilities:
Provides Fault Detection
- Identifies
when a fault condition or event has
occurred
Provides Diagnostic Reasoning
- Performs
fault isolation based upon the
interpretation of test results and sensor
readings
Provides Prognostic Analysis / Reasoning
- Monitors
degradation of signals / measurements over
time
- Monitors
depletion of consumable items
- Alerts
when monitored items are trending toward
out of tolerance conditions
- Performs
heuristic reasoning (rule of thumb)
- Integrates
3rd party prediction techniques
into a common information and reporting
framework
Assesses Functional and Mission
Capability
- Correlates actual and impending faults
to system functions
- Identifies which functions are
unavailable based on fault
- Identifies missions that can/cannot be
performed based on health assessment
- Identifies specific time interval within
mission when function cannot be performed
Provides Condition Based Maintenance
- Accumulates
use and wear factors
- Tracks
preventative maintenance requirements
based on time / wear / use
- Tracks
the performance of preventative
maintenance actions
- Performs
serial number tracking of high-end
components
- Closed-loop
recording of the effectiveness of
maintenance procedures
Reacts to Fault Events
- Annunciates
fault event
- Displays
fault information to users
- Launches
repair procedures (IETM or simple HTML)
- Identifies
spare part requirements and spares data
- Can
be used to launch control/recovery
procedure in reaction to a fault event
(e.g., reconfigure system or change
operating mode)
Compiles, interprets and displays trend
data; creates data logs
Provides links to IETMs, PMCS, supply
systems based on specific fault or equipment
condition
